TRAPPISTS ROCHEFORT 6

I'm not usually a Belgian beer fan - too many of them seem too artificially sweet, too often. But I don't hate this. At all.

In fact, it's pretty scrummy as winter beers go, even if you couldn't empty a fridge load of them in a sitting.

Smells rich and tastes the same, full of hints of cereal, touches of half a dozen fruits and a little bitter sting in the aftertaste. And it thankfully does without the odd quick-set-bloating abilities of some compatriots.

It's a bit frothy - you need to be on your pouring game to control it on a fresh, white tablecloth (I wasn't) - and it lists at 7.5% and is worth every point.

7/10
