BAVARIA PREMIUM PILSNER

I'd been steering clear of this all year on the basis that if they didn't know where they were from, they can't make good beer. Or they were being disingenious. Or they had delusions of competence.

Instead, Holland's Bavaria isn't bad. I'd guessed HoboBrew because of the 40 cent price per half litre can (in Italian supermarkets, anyway), but it's got more body than compatriot Heineken and a soft layer of bitterness.

A solid mid ranger. Not good, not bad, and nobody's going to punch you in the face for bringing it to a barbecue. They might get bored with it, but they won't be offended. They also make Hollandia, so their geography's not always wonky.
