BERNARD

Bernard. No, seriously. Bernard. Not an especially Czech name for a beer, is it?

Bernard sounds like a Swiss dog or a British public servant but not a beer. And certainly not a dark beer.

It's mid-range bock with a touch too much sweetness and, for most, too much of a burnt taste to its toffeeness. Oh, and it frothed up like a bastard on the pour. Actually, it also frothed up like a bastard on the top-up, so be a bit careful...

Plenty of Bulgaria's home grown dark beers trump this (yeah, I'm still in Bulgaria...)
