SAMUEL SMITH'S OLD BREWERY PALE ALE

Samuel Smith's Old Brewery Pale Ale. Another one from Yorkshire's oldest brewery, it tastes oddly like a stout.

It has the same creamy mouthfeel as the best English stouts, and it tastes a lot like the same brewery's Oatmeal Stout.

it's a little light on for strong flavours early in the tongue, but it makes up for it by the time it crosses the middle. Then it gets all roasted-cereal in the taste and throws a bitter blanket over it all to finish it off.

Might not be for everyone, but it's a pretty good example of the breed.

6/10
