VICTORIA LAGER

Victoria lager, from Modelo in Mexico. Well, it's somewhere between a full strength lager and a mid-strength. It's 4% and that half-way thing carries through, disappointingly, into a few other areas.

There's no real nose to speak of and the taste is quite fruity, but not beer fruity. More like cocktail fruity. There's more aftertaste than taste, but there's never any hit of hops or bitterness.

Somehow it feels like a beer aimed at the middle of the road, but the middle of the road in brewing is so crowded by big-budgeted giants that it'll get run over there. Modelo makes much better beer than this, like the Negra and the Especiale.

4/10
