MICHELOB ULTRA

Michelob Ultra. Another half-way house North American beer.

It's not just light in colour, but light in calories (95, if such things interest you), too.

It tips the boozie scale at 4.2%, which is sort of halfway between a standard lager and a light beer. And it drinks that way, too.

Sadly, it smells a little stale, which never helps you form a positive opinion.

Still, it goes on to taste like what it is: a pilsner with alcohol levels reduced and the flavour dropped down accordingly.

There's little flavour to it, except for a fizzing wave of mini-bubble pricks on the tongue.

Maybe if it was a very hot day and there wasn't much else around. But maybe not. It's not a "Superior Light Beer" (Australia's XXXX Gold is a better example of the breed).

It's mediocre, but the recipe has been planned for its market, and that's what middle America fancies, I suppose.

3/10
