WEIHENSTEPHANER PILSNER

Here is a real treat, brought to you from room 3023 in the Munich Airport Kempinski.
This is a Weihenstephaner pilsner, a beautifully crisp, sparklingly clear drop from a place that lays a strong claim to be the oldest continually operating brewery in the world.
The ancient abbey's paperwork records hops being tithed as long ago as AD768, though this brewery was officially licensed by Freising city in 1040.
It became Bavarian state property in 1803 after Napoleon secularised it and it now operates in partnership with Munich's Technical University to train as well as brew.
All that, and damned tasty, too. Almost perfect. (Oh, and after yesterday's Belgian shit, I had an emergency mouth-rinsing water bottle on hand, just in case.)
9/10
