ZYWIEC

Today's beery goodness comes from the Zywiec brewery in Poland.

Strongly hoppy over the tongue and slightly nutty in the aftertaste. Not bad, beer chicken +1.5.

That's an especially good result for a beer that not only says "Premium" and "No. 1" on the label but is apparently brewed without the benefit of yeast. "Brewed solely from three ingredients" it says, going on to list them as water, malted barley and hops. It also claims to be "famous worldwide" so of you haven't heard of it, you're clearly less cosmopolitan than you thought you were.

While its a good beer, I think I prefer the Bulgarian marketing style of under-promise/over-deliver. Maybe their sales and marketing guys feel they live in the shadow of the Czech and German brewers?

The beer is good enough without all that rubbish on the label.

6/10
