4 PINES BREWING EXTRA SPECIAL BITTER

4 Pines Brewing Co. Extra Special Bitter. I can’t help it, but I keep thinking of ESB being English Style Bitter rather than Extra Special Bitter. This tends to confirm my misconception.

A darkish beer with a very rich malty aroma. This has a deep full toffee flavour with none of the sweetness that I abhor and crisp bitter finish. I had this on tap last year along with too many other beers and now find this rewarding beer much better than I remember.

I still feel that this is quintessentially English, but it surprising went very well with a smoked Kransky and Mediterranean salad.
