4 PINES STOUT

4 Pines Stout. A wonderful old style, no nonsense stout. No gimmicks like chocolate or Imperialists or even Russians.

Oh, wait. This is Space Beer. No Russians! This had me searching for my Nestle “Conquest of Space” book, published not long after Russian Yuri Gagarin orbited the Earth and before John Glenn’s three orbits. My childish scribble reminds that he overshot the target area by 60 miles. Apparently this brewed to be consumed in space and they have already done some zero gravity tests without calamity.

But I digress. Yes, this is a basic lovely beer. Plenty of roast chocolate and malt in the aroma and flavour, with a rewarding hoppy bitter finish. While this is lovely, it feels a bit thin for a stout.

7/10
