AKTIENBRAUEREI KAUFBEUREN HELL

Aktien Hell. Brewed about an hour south west of Munich, the Aktien Hell is a terrific example of the Munich Helles style.

It's a lovely, light-looking, clean lager that seems too simple initially only to reveal its nuances deeper in the glass.

You're going to get a good initial head that settles down to a lovely, consistent level of carbonation.

Then you're going to smell toasted bread but where a lot of the locals deliver the smell of multi-grain toast, this one's a bit nuttier.

That carries over into the flavour, with a perfect balance of malts, bitterness, slight citrus sweetness and some nuttiness. And it delivers it all with an initially thin mouthfeel that becomes creamier on the aftertaste.

Find it, drink it.

8/10
