BATCH BREWING CO PIMS’S AMBER ALE

Batch Brewing Pims's Amber Ale. The second offering from this new microbrewery based in Marrickville, Sydney.

Dark red / amber colour but not as dark as it looks in the picture. Fine head will large bubbles possibly from hop oils. Caramel / toffee malt aroma. Medium body, smooth mouthfeel with moderate to low carbonation.

Strong caramel and toffee malt flavour followed by a smooth bitter finish. It’s hard to decipher the hop flavour other than the bitterness. I’m not a usually a huge fan of amber ales but I’d enjoyed this. It’s well balanced with the hop bitterness keeping the malt sweetness in check. It reminds me of an Extra Special Bitter (ESB). Fans of malty beers should check it out.

7/10
