BELHAVEN TWISTED THISTLE IPA

Belhaven Twisted Thistle IPA. This is the last Belhaven brew in my collection and it's the best I've had so far. Sadly, that doesn't move it very far towards the Best Beers category.

It's in a clear bottle, which won't help, even though it's from Scotland so it's unlikely to ever become light struck.

It's made from a combination of cascade and challenger hops and opening it doesn't bode well. In fact, it stinks like a pub's bar top towel that hasn't been laundered for a week. Like stale, flat, hot beer.

Thankfully, it tastes a lot better than that, but it's the dry finish that you remember more than anything else. It's like a Scottish beer for their four or five hot summer days. the bitterness is very light for an IPA.

Not brilliant, not offensive. You'd drink it if it was offered to you but you'd struggle to be effusive about it.

Seriously, is Brew Dog the only Scottish brewery making an interesting IPA these days?
