BREWDOG #MASHTAG 2013

Brewdog #Mashtag 2013. Kids these days and their lame hashtags. It will be a cringe worthy point in the future like referring to the internet as the “information super highway”.

In March 2013 Scottish brewers Brewdog decided to ask the people what to brew. Over the course of five days they invited followers of their Twitter and Facebook page to vote on different elements of a brew. After receiving more than 5,000 votes the result is an American Brown Ale with NZ hops which has been aged on oak chips and hazelnuts. It’s 7.5% ABV and 95 IBU.

Very dark brown colour with a fine light brown head. Medium body, relatively low carbonation with a smooth mouthfeel. Cocoa aroma. Cocoa and roasted malt flavour with a moderate level of bitterness despite the relatively high IBU level. Like other brown ales it’s on the sweeter side of dark ales.I couldn’t really taste the Kiwi hops or notice anything exceptional from the aging on oak chips and hazelnuts.

A typical chocolate dessert beer.
