BRIDGE ROAD AURORA BOREALIS

Bridge Road Aurora Borealis. I saw the Aurora Borealis in -33C temperatures in Yellowknife, Canada recently. And when I got home,  my local had some of these in stock so I just had to get some.  Even at $14 for a 330ml bottle.

The first thing you notice on pouring is that you seemed to have poured the sump oil out of your neighbours old Mini into your glass.  The colour is not a colour you would often find in nature!  Is it brown, a tinge of purple perhaps....not sure how to describe it.

It also has a story. This beer is a collaboration with a Norwegian brewer (Nogne-O) who created the beer, then shipped it to Australia (unrefrigerated) in Scottish Whiskey barrels.  This is where I should probably mention it's 14.9%....

So it's not a beer as most would know it.

Taste wise - its very smooth and very strong.  This is a "beer" for sipping and savouring late on a winters night, and not for taking to a BBQ on a hot summers day.

Its hard to rate - I had it in the fridge and the first mouthful was difficult.  As it warmed, it was better.  It could be anywhere on the scale, so I'm going to be safe and go with an 8.  Might be a collectors item.

8/10
