BRIDGE ROAD THE HARVEST FRESH HOP ALE 2013

Bridge Road The Harvest Fresh Hop Ale 2013. This is the fourth incarnation of this annual release. The head brewer took a visit to his local hop farm, Rostrevor Hop Gardens, and picked a stash of a yet-to-be released experimental hops.

Apparently there were insufficient hops of one variety to perform a single hop brew. As a result two different hop varieties were used in two separate brews and the two brews were then blended together to create the final product.

Damn this smells good! Floral, citrus and passionfruit aroma. It’s quite light in colour almost lager-like.

It’s has a relatively thin mouthfeel but is relatively highly carbonated.

It starts with a citrus / grapefruit / passionfruit hop flavour leading into little bit of lemon and fresh cut grass. It ends with a crisp, bitter and refreshing finish.

Surprisingly, it’s only 4.4% ABV but it has plenty of flavour. This would go down beautifully on a hot day.

8/10
