BROUWERIJ EMILISSE BLACK IPA

Brouwerij Emilisee Black IPA. I’ve tried a couple of IPA’s from the Netherlands with mixed results and while I’m not sure why I bought this, I am glad that I did.

Right from the pour it looked rich and the aroma didn’t disappoint. It was not overly sweet for an 8% ABV and the flavour was all rich dark fruit and dark chocolate. It has a very full mouthfeel and a bit of a dry bitter finish.

An Australian Summer might be a touch warm for this style, but the taste is very much Christmas pudding. Who would have that that beer like this could come from the home of Beer Chicken.

8/10
