CALDERA BREWING COMPANY INDIA PALE ALE

Caldera Brewing Company Oregon Brewed India Pale Ale. I’m not sure if some spaced out artist confused caldera and cauldron on the hippy can decoration.

It pours a deep copper and has a strong pine aroma. The citrus hops flavour has a chewy resinous feel with little of the Premium Two Row, Munich or Crystal Malt showing through. At 6.1% ABV it is a bit on the light side for an IPA, there must be enough malt to cut the bitterness of the 94 IBU.

It’s a pleasant beer without being great. The rim of the can does give good advice: “Go skiing, go fishing, go snowboarding, go biking, go rafting and lastly GO HOPS”. Maybe that’s why they use cans.

7/10
