CAVALIER BREWING BROWN ALE

Cavalier Brewing Brown Ale. I’ve been drinking a fair few beers with interesting names and this simple Brown Ale didn’t really interest me. Their Pale Ale was fairly good so I gave it a try.

The name might be unpretentious but the label rattles on about the “broad mix of chocolate and crystal malts” and “initial burst of caramel sweetness”. You can smell the chocolate in the over generous head and the flavour follows through. Rich chocolate and roast malt with spicy hops on the bitter finish. A well balanced beer, although the “silky smooth mouthfeel” is a little thin.

I am being picky. This is an excellent beer that delivers much more than expected.

8/10
