CLOWN SHOES VAMPIRE SLAYER IMPERIAL STOUT

Clown Shoes Vampire Slayer Imperial American Stout. A difficult beer.

I pulled it from the fridge and let it warm while I had a couple of home brew. When I popped it the look and aroma were wonderful. Rich dark chocolate, faint hops and a suspicion of the smoke from the burnt hickory and ash stakes mixed with holy water.

Unfortunately the malt flavour was overpowered by the 10% ABV alcohol. I put the bottle back in the fridge and the second glass, being a bit colder was totally different. Sensuous smoky coffee and dark chocolate with no obvious high alcohol, just the slight buzz in what’s left of the brain cells.

A very good beer that could benefit from a bit more malty for the mouthfeel. My score is based on being able to get the serving temperature right.

8/10
