DENNIS BEER CO HALO OF SATURN DOUBLE IPA

Dennis Beer Co Halo of Saturn Double IPA. When I saw this on tap it was very much of a case of do I subject myself to another Dennis Beer?

The combined score of the last two of their beers I tried amounts to a grand total of 4 out 20. Their California Ale is one of the most disgusting beers I’ve ever tasted. However, this time around it’s a Double IPA (DIPA) aka Imperial IPA. There should be enough hop flavour to hide any nasty flavours.

It’s hopped with Amarillo, Cascade, Centennial and Galaxy and it comes in at 8% ABV and 75 IBU.

Light amber colour, slightly opaque with a frothy head. Stonefruit and mild citrus aroma. Medium body with a smooth mouthfeel. Starts with a mild biscuit malt taste leading into a predominately citrus, grapefruit and orangy flavour. It has a lasting bitterness but not much in the way of resiny goodness. It’s quite easy drinking for a DIPA. I prefer a bit more pine flavour and resiny characteristics but it’s a matter of personal taste.

‘Dennis the Menace’ lifts his game.
