DOCTORS ORDERS PLASMA

Doctor's Orders Plasma. The Doc sure knows how to make a beer with a twist. This time round it’s a “white IPA”, which was originally entered into the Great Australian Beer SpecTAPular (GABS) 2012. It was released again in 2013 as a winter seasonal release.

According to The Doc, the grain bill is practically identical to his Zephyr brew which is a Double White Ale.  However, remove the botanicals, use a different yeast strain and a throw in a stack of American hops and you’ve just created a white IPA.

At 7.6% ABV and 75+ IBUs, it’s got some ticker. For the hop heads it uses Columbus/Tomahawk/Zeus, Galaxy and Citra. The Doc is a master at creating well balanced brews and this beer is no exception.

It looks like Belgian Wit with a creamy white head and citrus hop aroma. A complex mix of pine, citrus and tropical fruit hop flavours. It tastes like a smoother, more full bodied version of an American IPA. Slightly sweet due to the high ABV but not overly so.

This is dangerously drinkable stuff.
