DOGFISH HEAD BREWERY INDIAN BROWN ALE

Dogfish Head Brewery Indian Brown Ale. A hybrid Scotch Ale, American IPA and Brown Ale first brewed long before  the Toyota Prius.

Brown Ale? Brown as in chocolate and coffee. It poured a bit over carbonated, but that dropped down to leave an oleaginous coating on the glass.

The aroma is all chocolate and coffee with a bit of caramel. It might see sacrilegious, but the of use sugar, admittedly organic brown sugar, to supplement the Aromatic barley does work.

They use the same dry hopping as the 60 and 90 minute IPA to leave the rich flavour of roast coffee and chocolate followed by a hoppy bite.

This hybrid is outside the square and blurs some preconceived ideas of beer styles, but is well worth the journey.
