FOUNDERS BREWING DOUBLE TROUBLE IMPERIAL IPA

Founders Brewing Double Trouble Imperial IPA. The first thing you notice about this beer is the cool label. Upright is the face of an old man, upon turning the label upside down the image changes to the face of an old woman. Classic face illusion art.

This is an American-style imperial IPA that comes in at 9.4% ABV and 86 IBU.

Light honey colour, opaque, soft carbonation with a fine head and sweet caramel aroma.

Smooth, resinous mouthfeel. It’s got that full body mouthfeel high ABV beers have.  Starts with a sweet caramel flavour followed by a piney hop flavour with a bittersweet and resiny hop finish.

Due to the high ABV it’s got a bit of a warm alcohol aftertaste. It’s perhaps a little too sweet for me.

6/10
