FULLER'S ESB

Fuller's ESB. The label starts saying "Extra Special" then forgets to explain what the "B" is for. "Beer"? "Bitter"? "Beaut"?

It really doesn't matter, because this ale is imperiously magnificent. Its colour is rich and vibrant, its aroma makes you drift away to rolling Buckinghamshire countryside. I don't know why. Fuller's is in Chiswick...

Anyway, this is a multi, multi award-winning brew and it's easy to see why. It's brilliantly balanced between fruits, softer malts than normal and a level of hoppy bitterness that it absolutely just right.

You could drink this with just about any sort of plate of food and it's the sort of beer that would fit right in without being rendered invisible or demanding to stand proud of the plate.

There might be better beers out there, but so far on the Beeriosity odyssey, it's proven impossible to find a bad beer out of the Fuller's family. Kudos to you, ladies and gents. Kudos.

9/10
