GAGE ROADS ABSTINENCE

Gage Roads Abstinence Belgian Dubbel Chocolate Ale. Did they abstain from putting any flavour in this beer?

It might have been a bit too cold when I opened it and only got the fizzy Belgian Candy aroma. I let it warm and tasted. I could taste malt, a hint of chocolate, but no advertised coffee. It tasted OK, but lacked any satisfying flavour.

This appears to be a marketer’s idea of something challenging and different, but the brewery owners held back, afraid that it might offend their regular punters.
