GARAGE PROJECT PERNICIOUS WEED DIPA

Garage Project Pernicious Weed DIPA. We are not talking the weed of my youth in the late 60s and early 70s. This is much older than that. Hops were banned from “ale” in the late 1400s and were only used in “beer” from The Netherlands. They were described as a “wicked and pernicious weed” in the early 1500s.

Back to the beer, or ale is it now designated. I allowed it to warm while I had a Pale and Amber Ale. The result was a citrus blast when I poured it. The first sip confirmed that this is hop dominated, but the full mouthfeel confirmed a big malt bill, backed up by the deceptive 8%ABV. This is a full on hoppy beer, with the Rakau and Nelson Sauvin lifting the bitterness.

This was a 500ml bottle and while I did enjoy it I think that I would be more comfortable with a smaller bottle. A bit overpowering.

8/10
