GREENPORT HARBOR DARK MILD

Greenport Harbor Dark Mild. Also known as the Houston Hall Dark Mild, this is brewed in Brooklyn by Greenport Harbor for Houston Hall, the newish beer hall in the West Village of Manhattan.
Not the best porter-style beer we've had. Not even the best US-made Porter - that award would probably go the Sierra Nevada.
There's just something lacking in its balance. Again, that's partly because Americans demand their beers be served colder than does justice to quality beers. it's also partly because it's just not as good as some of the best.
There is basically not enough of any flavours across the front part of the tongue but then there's a workmanlike shot of malts and coffee hints, and a trace of bitterness.
It has quite a nice, mellow aftertaste, but just not enough balance in the mouth.
