GRIFTER BREWING THE OMEN

Grifter Brewing The Omen. I thought I’d give Grifter Brewing another chance after I struggled to drink their Mr Midnight brew which fell just short of poison.

This time around it’s another dark beer, an American Oatmeal Stout. When I saw this beer was only 4% I was very sceptical it would even taste like beer.

It looks like the real deal - jet black with a fine, coffee-coloured head and moderate coffee aroma. Relatively light body for a stout. Strong dark chocolate and coffee flavours – very tasty for a beer that is only 4% ABV. Why would you drink mid-strength or light lagers? It’s more like a sessionable porter than a stout.

Not an amazing Oatmeal stout, it’s missing the full body and smooth mouthfeel, but it’s very tasty for a low ABV beer.

7/10
