HARGREAVES HILL PALE ALE

Hargreaves Hill Brewing Company Pale Ale. I thoroughly enjoyed this on tap at their Yarra Glen Restaurant/Bar in 2010, a bit over a year after the Black Saturday bushfires had destroyed the original brewery.

This bottled version, while good, does not live up to that memory. It has an inviting amber colour with a generous head, a slight citrus aroma and a generally pleasant hoppy taste.

It may suffer by comparison to the great pale ales that I have been drinking, or maybe it is just a case of drinking on tap, on site, on holidays being much better than from a bottle at home.

7/10
