HOFMUHL PREMIUM PILSNER

Hofmuhl Premium Pilsner. Not much choice but to knock this one over at the Audi Racing Arena during the Le Mans 24 Hour race. They don't offer anything else.
Fortunately, it's not awful. It's nothing special, but it's not awful.
It smells a little like a dried beer mat that had, the night before, been saturated in spillage. It's a touch off-putting.
There are saving graces. It has a lovely head and it's lightly carbonated.
It also serves up a strong (for a pilsner) whack of bitterness on the tongue that stays there all the way across the palage and all the way down the glass.
In fact, it overpowers everything else and you have to concentrate hard to pick up any malty or grassy hints.
A good session beer, I'd say (I'll be able to report back on this with far greater accuracy tomorrow...) and you can think of it as a halfway house to move from lagers to IPAs or back the other way.
And it's the best beer we've had in a green bottle!
6/10
