ILLAWARRA BREWING FIVE NIL PILS

Illawarra Brewing Five Nil Pils. Ah, the sweet taste of victory. A 5-0 thrashing of the Poms in the 2013-14 Ashes series. What better way to celebrate then with a fine beer to mark the occasion?

Fortunately the boys at Illawarra Brewing had foreseen not only a victory but a whitewash. They brazenly announced they were brewing Five Nil Pils in late December 2013.

Given the woefully poor performance of the Aussie cricket team leading up to it, and fact they had lost the previous two Ashes Series, it was quite a gamble. But it paid off and soon the beer was flowing from taps around the country.

Light yellow colour, slightly opaque with a creamy head and moderate carbonation. Typical pils aroma. Soft pilsner malt flavour with a big wallop of Saaz hop flavour. Clean and crisp with a firm bitter finish. A pils with a decent wack of flavour.

A beer worthy of the occasion.
