ILLAWARRA BREWING VORACIOUS HERBACEOUS

Illawarra Brewing Voracious Herbaceous. I was drawn to this strange looking beer tap which depicts a hop plant reminiscent of something from the Rocky Horror Show.

When I saw it was an Illawarra brew alluding to a hoppy beer I didn’t hesitate to order a schooner. Apparently it’s a golden ale brewed with Australian and American hop varieties.

I found another reviewer say it’s hopped with Mosaic, Centennial and Tomahawk. As it’s described as having a passionfruit flavour I’m guessing the Aussie hop could get Galaxy. It’s a sessionable 4.8% ABV.

Very pale yellow colour with a fine white head. Great tropical fruit aroma. Medium to light body and moderate carbonation. Strong citrus, tropical fruit and passionfruit flavour. It’s clean and refreshing but is packed with hop flavour and has a slightly resinous mouthfeel. The flavour is quite similar to some of the flavours in Feral Brewing’s Hop Hog.

The is one of the most flavoursome sessionable beers I’ve tasted. Voracious Herbaceous indeed.

8/10
