ISLENA PREMIUM

Islena Premium. This is the sort of thing that probably would be more appreciated in Australia at the moment, with a 40.33-degree average maximum temperature today. 

Or on its home island of Ibiza at 6 in the morning surrounded by incoherent English 20-year-olds with their midriffs disguising their bikini bottoms and with your head sawn in half by techno music.

It comes in one of those pretend bottles that are actually cans (first saw this with Heineken when they want to charge double for the same beer). 

The catalyst for a hundred thousand unwanted pregnancies, the only thing actually Ibiza about it is the word "Ibiza" on the Cattle (as we're calling canned bottles now) and the Ibizia-grown barley. The rest of it is knocked together in Germany.

It's a light, flattish number that has hardly a trace of bitterness. Whatever hops they used, they didn't use many of them. It's so light on for gas that it doesn't leave any mouthfeel other than a slight stickiness and a hint of those locally-grown barley grains.

But if you were laid out on a beach recovering from a monster hangover in 35-degree summer sunshine, you wouldn't say no.
