KARL STRAUSS PINTAIL PALE ALE

Karl Strauss Pintail Pale Ale. I tried this beer a few years ago and remember it having a harsh hop flavour. I soon moved on to the Karl Strauss Tower 10 IPA and much preferred it over this one. I decided to revisit it to put it on the record.

This is a pale which is designed to be sessionable but still have plenty of hop flavour. It uses Motueka hops from New Zealand and Cascade hops from the US. It comes in at 5.3% ABV and 47 IBU.

Honey colour, fine head, moderate carbonation with citrus and classic Kiwi hop weed/tobacco aroma. You can smell Motueka hops from a mile away. It tastes pretty much the same as it smells. Medium to light body, citrus and strong earthy, tobacco flavour with a clean finish.

It goes down easily enough but I'm not a huge fan of Motueka.

7/10
