KOOINDA BLACK IPA

Kooinda Black IPA. Well it’s certainly jet black, light doesn’t seem to want to pass through it.

It has a light-coloured, brown, fluffy head with decent malt and hop aroma.

It has a relatively thin body for a dark beer and you can feel the bubbles of carbonation on your tongue.

Starts with an acidic, passionfruit Sauv Blanc taste that is quickly overtaken by a malty, dark chocolate and a bitter finish like a strong roasted black coffee.

With such strong flavours and a thin mouthfeel, it’s hard to notice it’s 7%. Interestingly it’s brewed with 100% Nelson Sauvin hops to create a IBU 70 brew with six different malts to keep it in balance. It’s a strange combination but it works.

8/10
