LITTLE CREATURES SHEPHERD’S DELIGHT

Little Creatures Shepherd's Delight. The Autumn 2013 release of Little Creature's single batch series is a Red IPA style brew that claims to have the “most lavish hopping regime to date”.

It uses hops from around the globe including New Zealand (Southern Cross, Dr Rudi aka Super Alpha), Australia (Stella, Victoria Secret), US (Chinook) and UK (EK Goldings). Given its citrusy hop inclinations, 6.4% ABV and IBU 50, it’s leaning towards an American style IPA.

This is yet another beer which you can tell is tasty just by looking at it – reddy / amber colour, bubbles gently rising up to a fine, detergent-like head you come to associate with hoppy goodness.

It has a beautiful hop aroma, kind of like a beefed up version of their pale ale. Has a medium mouthfeel leading into a caramel malt flavour, piney, grapefruit flavours and caps off with a smooth bitter finish. The hop flavour lingers in your mouth, there’s a nice slick resinous quality to it without it being sickly.

You’ve got to give it to Little Creatures, whilst their single batch creations aren’t always pushing the envelope, they certainly know how to make a superbly balanced beer that ticks all the boxes.
