MATILDA BAY FAT YAK PALE ALE

Matilda Bay Fat Yak Pale Ale. I remember when this beer first came out.  I thought, '"Fat Yak"; what a cool name that is.'

However as the years have passed, its name may still bring a smile to my face, but the contents don't, soon after the first mouthful.

That first mouthful is good - fruity aroma, generous head, refreshing to drink - you think, wow this is good.  And then you keep drinking and the slightly nasty commercial aftertaste comes in as you get to the end of the bottle, and you remember why you stopped drinking it.

You'd drink it over VB and many "real" commercial beers, but line it up against a decent craft beer, and it would be past its use by date in a flash.

5/10
