MAXLRAINER HELLES

Maxlrainer Helles. Lordy, this is good.
Maxlrainer has long been the go-to brewery for aficianados of Bavarian brewing and this helles shows why.
Oddly, it's the first Maxlrainer helles I've tried, even though I've dipped into the brewery's offerings many times before. It's really odd, actually, because the helles is the most popular beer variety in Bavaria.
And this is one of the best helles versions you'll find in all of Bavaria, which means in all of Germany.
It's right up there with the Tegernsee, Weihenstephaner and Augustiner helles, but where it apes their perfect balance of hops, malt and fruit, it adds Maxlrainer's delightful creamy aftertaste.
The gas is also perfectly balanced and you could sit with this in the sun of a Bavarian spring all afternoon. And you'd be very, very happy.
10/10
