MEISTER PILSNER

Meister Pilsner. From Torgau, near Leipzig in Germany, this is another beer that proves that, while the Germans understand pilsners, it's not really a style they're passionate about.

It's good, and they show that all the basics are covered, but there is something...

...Missing.

Maybe it's that it's disturbingly light in colour. Perhaps it's that there is more bitterness and more malt than you normally find in a pure pilsner. Not sure.

It's very drinkable, don't get me wrong. It's just not the best pilsner you will find.

It's a better beer on a hot day, thanks to its dry finish and low carbonation, but you'll be better off on the same brewer's helles style.

6/10
