MIKKELLER/STILLWATER ARTISANAL GYPSY TEARS

Mikkeller/Stillwater Artisanal Gypsy Tears brewed at Fano Bryghus in Denmark. A stout brewed with wild yeast.

Luckily Autumn has finally arrived and it is perfect for this beer. I allowed it to warm before opening and was rewarded with a big roast malt blast with a hint of hops.

The first sip was malty and sour. I assume that the red wine barrels have added a fruitiness to the sour flavour from the Brett yeast.

Actually I don’t care where it comes from as this is a very rewarding beer. On top of the beer flavours it has the mouthfeel of a good Shiraz.

Some big flavour beers are great for savouring rather than sessioning, and while sour, fruity roast malt might not sound appealing, I wish that I had a few more bottles of this beer.
