MISSION INDIA PALE ALE

Mission Brewery India Pale Ale. “Fraught with hops complex.” The blurb does go on, but really there’s not much complex about Cascade and Centennial hops. And yet it works.

This falls between an old style English IPA and an modern American IPA. This cloudy copper beer does not have a heavy floral hop presence. There are hops, but the smooth malty feel dominates.

The blurb also mentions “an earthy ale that is most drinkable”. Not earthy like peated malt, although you do get what they are talking about. There is a pleasant bitter finish and a slight buzz from the 6.8%ABV.

This is most drinkable. San Diego is quickly becoming my beer Mecca.

8/10
