MONTEITH’S BREWERS SERIES IPA

Monteith's Brewers Series IPA. I don’t really like any of Monteith’s range but when I saw this limited edition IPA I was curious to see if they could pull it off.

On the label it says it's brewed with Cascade and “special” New Zealand hops for the “IPA aficionado”. I’ve had some pretty tasty Kiwi IPAs so I was interested to see if Monteith’s lifted their game.

It has a strange combination of sweet toffee and bread flavours, finishing with an earthy bitterness.

Whatever else it is, this isn’t what I would call an IPA. It tastes more like and English Ale and a disappointing one at that. This beer ruins the good name of Kiwi IPAs.
