MOO BREW HARVEST ALE 2014

This is Moo Brew's 5th Harvest Ale and the first produced under the helm of new head brewer Dave Macgill. It’s a rye IPA which utilises rye malt from Tasmania’s Belgrove Distillery. On the hop front are Galaxy delivering citrus and passionfruit flavours whilst Ella hops adds some floral and slightly spicy characteristics. Being 7% ABV it’s bang on the most common ABV level for an American style IPA.

Light orangy amber colour with a creamy brown/green head with large hop oil bubbles. Citrus and rye aroma. Strong citrus hop flavour that lingers with a decent whack of bitterness. There’s a slight earthy and spicy character from the rye but also a bit of slick resinous goodness from the hop oils. The alcohol is well hidden and it has a lot more hop flavour than other rye IPA’s I’ve tried.

A good sign of things to come from Tassie's Moo Brew
