MORNINGTON PENINSULA BREWERY IPA

Mornington Peninsula IPA. I loved the Mornington Imperial IPA so I was keen to try their standard IPA when I saw it on tap.

It’s hopped late in the boil with Amarillo, Simcoe and either Centennial or Citra. There’s a bit of tropical character so I’m thinking this version was hopped with Citra.

Honey colour, slightly hazy with a pine and tropical aroma. Medium body and moderate carbonation. It tastes like a fruit tingle. There is too much going on – stonefruit / orange flavour, floral/citrus, tropical fruit and resiny pine all fighting for control.

As it warms up it the malts become more prominent developing a more balanced flavour. It’s a little resinous but goes down easily enough. Probably too much tropical fruit flavour for my palate.

6/10
