MUDGEE BREWING BLACK IPA

Mudgee Brewing Black IPA. Despite being called a Black IPA the brewers describe this as ‘an easy drinking dark ale’.

Brewed with dark malts and hopped with Amarillo, it’s a moderate 5.5% ABV.

Dark brown, creamy head with a grainy and chocolate malt aroma. Medium body with a nice mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Chocolate malt flavour with an underlying citrus / stonefruit flavour from the Amarillo. There’s a lingering hop bitterness with a bit of astringency and roasted malt aftertaste.

It definitely leans more towards a dark ale than a black IPA.

7/10
