MURRAYS HELL OF THE NORTH

Murrays Hell of the North. Something different from Murrays, a Strong Belgian Dark Ale. Fermented with a blend of three Trappist yeasts resulting in a colossal 11.5% ABV. It’s a single batch, keg only release which the brewers at Murrays say is their best brew to date.

Looks like a dark amber ale with a creamy light brown head. Sweet malt and banana aroma. Incredibly thick and luscious mouthfeel. Christmas cake flavours followed by an almost overpowering banana flavour. Some warm alcohol character with a slightly dry finish.

Relatively sweet but perhaps less so than a lot of Belgians. It’s a decent enough Belgian Ale but still not quite on par with the real thing.

7/10
