PARALLEL 49 GYPSY TEARS DARK ALE

Parallel 49 Gypsy Tears Dark Ale. This is a pretty darn good tipple from Vancouver, Canada.

It helps that I'm a fan of the dark ale style, even if it's a bit of an orphan in mainstream drinking circles. And it helped this one that it's actually very well brewed.

It's a nicer looking beer than this pic shows and certainly doesn't have the waxy body it looks like here. It has an awesome head that sticks around and the rest of it is rich looking.

The aroma is a bit special (it helped that the bar staff at Lift in Vancouver served it at the right temperature), combining caramel, coffee, malt and a slight hint of citrus.

The taste is right there, too, with the flavour walking in lock step with the aroma, but adding a touch of coffee in the aftertaste.

Very nice.

8/10
