RED DUCK AMBER

Red Duck Amber. I tried this a while back and vaguely remember it being pretty average. But Red Duck make some very tasty brews and I was thinking this was an American style Amber Ale. Only after buying a bottle in a dark inner city bar I read on the label it’s a British style ale.

This beer was brewed with an ESB (Extra Special Bitter) in mind. From a marketing perspective they decided to call it an Amber Ale because us Aussies don’t know what an ESB is. It’s lightly hopped with East Kent Goldings resulting in a malt driven beer with a sweet malt flavour.

All of this results in a caramel malt taste and not much else. Very boring, give it a miss.
