RED DUCK HOP SHARK

Red Duck Hop Shark. Red Duck is renowned for brewing some pretty strange brews. It seems they are releasing a new beer every week. I’ve found them to be a bit hit and miss but have enjoyed some of their more straight forward pale ales and IPA’s in the past.

The Hop Shark is a “highly hopped pale ale” which is 5.4% ABV. Centennial and Cascade hops were used for bittering followed by more Centennial and Cascade and some Galaxy for good measure.

Typical pale ale appearance – golden colour, slight opaque with medium body and moderate carbonation. Citrus and floral aroma. Strong citrus and floral hop flavour with an underlying toasty malt flavour and a decent bitter finish. It’s clean with a lingering bitterness. Perhaps a little too much grainy / toasty malt for my palette.

A good beer but nothing to write home about.

7/10
